Step 1: Get Your Learner Permit

To begin, apply for a learner permit at the DMV.

Step 2: Take the 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course

New York State requires all new drivers to complete a 5-hour pre-licensing course. Drive Rite Academy offers this live via Zoom.

Step 4: Take the Road Test

Book your DMV road test when you're ready.

You’ll need to:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Complete the 5-hour course
  • Hold your permit for 6 months (if under 18)

We can schedule it and provide a car for test day.
