The DMV recommends that all drivers of all ages have at least 50 hours of driving practice, with 15 hours at night and 10 hours in traffic. The DMV also recommends that students take professional driving lessons. We understand that it is sometimes not possible to get 50 hours of practice. However, we recommend you have as much driving practice as possible, to feel confident during the road test. It is also recommended to practice driving in various conditions. Although the road test will be given on streets, it is a good idea to practice driving on highways and heavy traffic areas. Once you feel confident driving in all types of scenarios, you may consider taking the road test.
