About at Drive Rite NY

1. I have been teaching for Drive Rite for 3 years now. I first started driving when I was 16 or 17 (11th grade).
2. I like being an instructor because I do like to teach. I was a high school/middle school teacher for over 18 years, and before that worked in after-school programs during college.
3. What else do I like to do? Freelance writing (for a few websites, etc.); work as a tour guide in NYC; go to concerts; take care of the pets at home

1. How long have you been driving?
16 years

2. Why do you like being a driving instructor?
Being a driving instructor provides me with the satisfaction of helping others and providing my city with better trained and responsible drivers.

3. What do you like to do when you aren't instructing?
I like to work out, travel and learn new things

What's good everybody? I'm Avery! I've been an instructor for 4+ years. I very much enjoy the work that I do, and I hope my enthusiasm & expertise show when you're in a lesson with me.

I'm very detailed in my instruction, explaining the many nuances of certain situations when driving. I will not just tell you "what" to do, but more importantly I will explain "WHY" you do it that particular way. In my years, I have found that understanding the "why" of driving helps you become more mentally confident in actually doing the "what" more independently later on, if you know what I'm saying.

With clarity comes mental confidence; with mental confidence comes independent thinking; with independent thinking comes great judgement in any situation. This is what a good driver is able to do at ALL times. And with me as your instructor, that is exactly what you'll become. I get the mind right! I got you!

Even with all of that, I still manage to keep it fun & humourous as well informative & productive during our lessons. In the car, I am your coach (kind yet stern), I am your cheerleader, and I am most definitely YOUR guy!

As I always love to say, "Driving Is Science," and when you roll with me you'll certainly find out why.

I am very much looking forward to working and learning with you.
