In the live Zoom class, a certified instructor leads the session at a set time, and students can interact in real time; it's open to anyone 16 and up. The self-paced online course, restricted to those 18 and older, lets you work through modules independently, with identity checks, on your own timeline. Both choices are DMV-approved, teach the same mandatory material, and qualify you to book a road test. The difference is that live classes (Zoom included) give you an MV-278 certificate, whereas the online course sends completion data electronically to the DMV and you won't get a physical MV-278.
