The live Zoom format is an instructor-led class that meets at a set time, allowing real-time interaction with a certified teacher and is open to students 16 and up. For those 18 and older, the self-paced online version lets you work through the lessons independently, on your own timetable, with built-in identity checks. Whichever path you pick, both are state-approved, deliver the identical curriculum, and qualify you for a road test appointment. One difference remains: live (including Zoom) graduates receive a physical MV-278 certificate, whereas the online-only completion is reported to the DMV electronically, so no paper certificate is issued.
