Terms of Service
At DriveRite Academy, our goal is to execute a uniform, transparent policy that is fair for both students and instructors. Please note that we cannot make any exceptions for the terms listed below.
Cancellation of Lessons / Classes
We understand that unavoidable circumstances arise and appointments have to be cancelled or rescheduled. Cancellation and/or rescheduling must be made 24 hours prior to your appointment, and confirmed by one of our representatives. Cancellations for the 5hr course must be made 72 hours in advance. Please call us at during business hours to cancel or reschedule your appointment, if you are unable to do this through our online booking system. If you are unable to reach us by phone, you may send us an email or contact us through our contact form on our website 48 hours in advance, and the cancellation must be confirmed by a representative from our branch. If you choose to reschedule a missed lesson, there is a fee of $25 to book another lesson. If you choose to re-schedule, this must be done within 72 hours of the missed lesson. If you choose not to reschedule, that lesson will not be included in your package balance and/or refunded.
Where to Meet Your Instructor
If you are taking lessons at our 145 Kenilworth Place branch, you must meet your instructor near our garage on Campus Road, between Hillel Place and Amersfort Place, which is directly behind Café Bene and Starbucks. Pickups are available at the Kenilworth Location, but only if your home is up to 10 minutes away. You cannot assume that you are a pickup unless confirmed by a staff member. For the 594 Dean Street branch, you are expected to meet your instructor outside the building at the time of your appointment. There are no pickup services available for our Dean Street branch.
Cancellation of Road Tests
Cancellation of Road Tests must be done at least 72 hours (3 days) prior to the appointment time. Road Tests can be re-scheduled once, free of charge, as long as the 72 hour advance notice is provided. If a student chooses to re-schedule a Road Test for the second time, a fee of $30 applies. Any subsequent rescheduling incurs a $50.00 fee.
Road Test Information
Please be aware that you are responsible for making sure you have all required documentation / materials with you for your road test. An auto-generated e-mail is sent twice to inform you of your test, both when it is booked and three days prior to your test. Make sure you read this document carefully, as it lists what you need to have ready with you on the day of the test. These documents are:
- Your 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Certificate. Please make sure this certificate has not expired
- Your Driving Permit. This must be the current, non-expired card with your picture on it, and not the interim paper permit. You cannot replace this document with another Identification Document, such as a passport.
- If you are a temporary visitor, your status cannot be expired on your Driving Permit
- If you are below 18 years of age, make sure to bring your completed and signed 50-Hour Supervised Driving Certificate
- If you wear prescription glasses and/or contact lenses, make sure to bring the contact lens case with you if you are not wearing your glasses
- The Road Test itself is 10-15 minutes. The wait time at the test site is up to three hours, and it is advised to free up your schedule for three hours on that day
If you are more than 15 minutes late for your lesson or class, your lesson may be forfeited. If you are less than 15 minutes late, this time will be deducted from your lesson and you will receive the remaining time that is left.
Lateness for Road Tests
The DMV is very strict when it comes to lateness, therefore you must be on time for your Road Test. If you have booked a car with us, make sure to arrive to the office on the day of your test at least 10 minutes ahead. If you are not at the office by the designated time, the instructor will call you once. In the event that you are more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, the instructor will not wait for you and you will be responsible for getting to the test site yourself. It is then at the discretion of the DMV examiner to determine if you will be allowed to take your exam. We are not responsible if you are unable to take your exam due to lateness.
Expiration of Payments/Packages
All payments for any service are valid for one year.
All packages are valid for one year from date of purchase, unless advance notice is given pertaining to an expected delay. Any unused services will be forfeited after one year of purchase if unclaimed.
Refunds for unused individual services and/or packages are permissible for up to 60 days of purchase. Requests for refunds of packages must be performed and approved in writing. You will receive a refund of the remaining package price based on what has been used from the package. All refunds are subject to a 10% or $10 Service Fee (whichever one is greater).
You will not be refunded for any unused lessons/services after you have taken your road test. It is your responsibility to make sure all lessons are complete before taking your road test.
Refunds are given in the original form of payment. Refunds for cash payments will be given in the form of a company check.
Road test appointments within a package must be booked by us. After you complete the 5 hour pre-licensing class, we will book your road test appointment for you. If you book your own road test, we cannot guarantee availability for a car. Booking your own road test appointment may forfeit the use of our car for the road test should a car not be available.
In the event of rainy or snowy conditions, please assume that all lessons and classes are still in session. If we find the conditions to be dangerous or excessive, we will notify you in order to re-schedule your appointment. You cannot assume that a lesson is cancelled due to rain or light snow.
Code of Conduct
Our instructors are required to uphold high standards of conduct and professionalism, and we expect the same of our students. If for any reason, the instructor feels like the student is behaving recklessly, dangerously, and/or disrespectfully, the service will be stopped and forfeited. We reserve the right to cancel the lesson if the student is intoxicated, for the safety of the instructor and the student. Racial discrimination, sexual harassment, and verbal/physical assault by either party will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Students cannot be accompanied by any individual, whether a parent, spouse, child or friend.
